The figure above shows the Home Screen of your device.  The top section are the rows you can tap to enter data in the corresponding data area.  On the right side of each data row is a counter which reflects the total number of records stored related to that data area.  The section below the Data Entry section allows viewing the available reports.  To learn more about the reports click here.

Each data area has the same general interface elements.  The top right is an EDIT button.  When tapped the data below will show red icons to the left, when tapped show the delete button.  You can also swipe any data row horizontally left or right to show the delete button.  Tap delete to remove the item.  On the lower left of all data areas is a PURGE button (trash can symbol).  Tap purge to delete data in this data area.  You will have an option to delete ALL or only Synced data.  On the bottom center is a three button FILTER to show you data based on synchronization status.  You can show ALL data (synced and unsynced), NOT SYNCED data which is data awaiting synchronization, and SYNCED which shows only items that have already been synced or marked as synchronized when saving a data item.  If you have Synced selected and enter a new item the app will automatically change this filter so you can view the newly added item.  On the bottom right is a + button which you can tap to add new data.  If you have not yet synced Logbook Pro PC edition this button will be disabled in both the History and Flights areas.  Data items in the listing will have a black title when not yet synced, otherwise a grey title when it has been synced.  These colors (black/grey) will give you a visual indication of sync status.

When viewing an existing item or creating new items you will see a SAVE button at the top right.  Anytime a SAVE button appears you must tap this to save changes.  If you want to back out (cancel) from saving changes, simply tap the button on the top left to navigate back a screen.  iPhone users will see a down arrow on the top right of the keyboard (numeric or standard) which can be tapped to hide the keyboard.

Date fields, as shown above, have a blue button on the right side.  BlueClockNow.png  When tapped the current date (or date and time) will be entered.  To select a date from the date picker tap the area to the left of the blue button, i.e. the existing date displayed or white space.

Certificates/Ratings:

Certificate-New.png

Entering Certificates and Ratings is straight-forward.  Enter the information in the corresponding data fields and then tap SAVE on the top right.  On the bottom of all data areas is a "Synchronized" checkbox.  Check "Synchronized" to tell the app NOT to send this item to the My Sync portal and consider it as already synchronized.  Whenever editing a record the Synchronized box will automatically clear regardless of whether it has been synchronized already so if you tap SAVE it will be synced to the portal again.  Information on the Cloud Sync portal will not be duplicated during repeat synchronizations.  Older items will be replaced by their updated newer saves.  Enter the new information and then check Synchronized before tapping SAVE.  It will appear as grey in the listing and be skipped at next sync.  If calendar integration is ON in the settings area, saving a new item will also record the data item in the device's calendar.  You may not want all entries recorded on your calendar so checking "Bypass Calendar" will instruct the app to skip adding the item to your calendar on save.  Editing existing items will update your calendar as well.

History:

History-List.png History-New.png

History items are anything with an expiration date such as medicals and flight reviews.  History item definitions are populated from Logbook Pro PC edition Options/History area on initialization and updated with each synchronization.  To modify history items available go into Options/History within Logbook Pro PC edition and they sync the PC followed by syncing the device again to receive the changes.

To enter a new history event on your device tap the + on the bottom right as shown above.  The Event editor will appear (top right image).  Tap the "Event" to choose from the event list and then select the Accomplished date.  You can tap the text area to select a date from the date picker or tap the blue button to enter today's date.  The date due will be calculated automatically when an accomplished date is selected.  You can force a recalculation such as if you change the event after choosing an Accomplished date by tapping the Calculator button.  The history listing will also show you whether the history event is due or expires in the future by color coding the due date.  As depicted on the upper left image red dates are past due and green has not yet occurred.  You can also see the dim gray items indicating they have been synchronized and black for items not yet synced.  With calendar integration enabled, a calendar entry will be made for both the accomplished and expiration dates unless Bypass Calendar is checked.

Flights:

Flights-List.png

The flights listing is a little more involved than the other data areas showing you DATE - TYPE - IDENT on the title line.  Grey if synced otherwise black as shown above.  On the second row (left side) is the route of flight in brown.  The third row down is the remarks in silver.  On the top right is the duration of the flight (duration or simulator value).  This value will be blue for duration values otherwise purple for simulator entries.  The second row down (right side) in green reflects OUT-IN if entered otherwise TAKEOFF-LANDING if entered.  If neither are entered then it will be blank.

Tap the + button on the bottom right to add a new flight.  If you have custom columns the fields will be available to enter as well.  You can reduce the clutter on the flight entry screen in the settings area by configuring the display to only show fields you want to appear.  Click here to learn more about the settings available customize the fields shown.

When adding a new flight, previously entered data can be auto-entered as described in the settings topic.  You can optionally have the flight date use the last entered date, and auto enter the last aircraft type, ident, and route.  Tapping the OUT time will use the same date as the flight date and use the current time as the starting point.  Takeoff will preset to OUT plus 15 minutes.  Landing will preset to Takeoff plus one hour.  IN will preset to Landing + 15 minutes.  Intervals between time values can be adjusted in the settings/flight log settings area.

Flights-Top.png OOOI-DirectInput.png

The images above show portions of the flight editor.  The left side depicts the top section required for all flight entries (Date, Type, Ident, Route).  To afford more flexibility and rapid flight logging Logbook Pro uses a free-form route field allowing you to log the entire trip in one flight log entry.  We do not use an airport database, simply type the destinations as you prefer, preferably in ICAO/IATA/FAA format if you use Route Browser to visualize and analyze your trips.  When entering airfield identifiers you can double-space which the app will convert into a hyphen preventing you from having to switch keyboard layouts to get to the hyphen key.  The middle image shows the OUT/TAKEOFF/LAND/IN time fields which are optional.  Logbook Pro is not time zone aware but you should use the same time zone for date/time inputs which are also used for duration/sim calculations.  You can put the app (OOOI times) into a fixed time zone as set in the Settings area (Device Local, UTC, or Custom).  AutoFill will occur on the device when the Duration changes and you have an AutoFill configuration created for the selected aircraft type.  AutoFill configurations are created in Logbook Pro PC edition within the Options/AutoFill area for each aircraft type.  Be sure to verify all fields prior to tapping SAVE on the top right as AutoFill may enter a value you weren't expecting.  Be sure to review your AutoFill settings for each aircraft type and set the defaults as desired.

Flights-Bottom.png Approaches.png

To save an incomplete flight such as one you are about to fly tap the "Pending Flight" checkbox as shown above which will tell Logbook Pro not to validate the flight entry for required fields and also exclude it from Synchronization.  This also allows you to preload future flights such as an airline trip and mark them as pending.  Pending flights will appear in RED on the Flights screen which you can tap to complete at a later date.  Clear the Pending Flight checkbox when the flight is flown and then tap SAVE at the top right.  It will then be queued for synchronization.  To prevent a flight from being added to your device's calendar when calendar integration is enabled, check the "Bypass Calendar" field which will tell the app not to save this information to your calendar when saving.  To prevent the flight from being synced to the Cloud Sync portal check "Synchronized" to instruct the app that this item has already been synced and should not be sent to the My Sync portal.  As data entered into the app do not affect the reports on the device only information synced back to your PC will update the reports returned to the device at next synchronization.

If optioned in the settings Logbook Pro can automatically calculate the duration or simulator time for you from the OUT-IN or TAKEOFF-LANDING times.  After the dates and times are entered, tap the calculator button and the duration will be automatically calculated and entered for you.  The same applies in the simulator field, a calculator is available to automatically enter a duration based off of the OUT-IN or TAKEOFF-LANDING depending on your settings.  Image buttons appear on the right side of all flight time related fields.  As in the middle image above, the Solo time field has a left arrow button, when tapped the duration value will be automatically copied into this field.  Any field that shows a red X you can tap to remove the flight time entered in this field.  The top right image shows the approach editor, simply enter the number of approaches flown of each type.  When you see a -/+ button available you can tap the -/+ values to decrement/increment the values respectively.

Internal Fields:

InternalFields.png

At the bottom of the Flight data entry screen is an Internal Fields section.  Internal fields are fields that the app uses to hold data that is used for calendar integration only.  These fields can be updated as needed which will update information in the Flights listing and calendar appointments but will not sync back to Logbook Pro PC edition.  These fields are typically associated with schedule imported data such as Flight number, etc.  The Internal fields section can be hidden by going into Settings/Flight Log and tap the "Configure Layout" button on the bottom.

Number Pad:

As seen in the image below, when entering values into a field that takes only numbers, a number pad keyboard will appear.  The "Save" button will reappear which can be tapped when the entry is complete and you're ready to save the information. A down arrow will appear as seen in the figure below on the top right of any keyboard (N/A iPad) to hide the keyboard when tapping the down arrow.
