Synchronization is simple using the Cloud Sync portal at http://logbookpro.com/sync. Data is exchanged between Logbook Pro PC edition and your device through this portal. All synchronization is done over the Internet (The Cloud), there is no need for WiFi or cables. It is fast, reliable, and easy. For details on configuring Logbook Pro PC edition, please read the Cloud Sync documentation topic. To configure your device for synchronization, which is required to initialize the device for first use do the following:

Synchronization Settings:
At the top of the settings area enter your Account ID and Username to enable synchronization with the Cloud Sync portal and Logbook Pro PC edition paired with the same credentials. It is recommended to enable Automatic Sync on Start. Synchronization receives updated data from Logbook Pro PC edition which includes your aircraft types, history events, custom column configuration, and report data. As Android devices leave apps running in the background, Logbook Pro determines the app is being restarted after 10 minutes of non-use.
Once data is sent to the Cloud Sync portal from the device it is no longer needed and can be purged or you can leave it on the device for future reference if desired. Items that have been synced will changed from Black to a Gray. If you want the Sync system to remove synced data after being sent to the Cloud Sync portal you can enable Purge Synced after Sync. This only deletes the already synced data associated to Certificates, Ratings, History, and Flights on the device. As it will not be synced again unless edited it is also safe to leave the data on the device. Pending flights are not removed if Purge Synced after Sync is enabled.
The Synchronization Process:
Synchronization occurs either by tapping "Sync" on the upper right of the Home Screen (or menu/sync) or if enabled in the Synchronization Settings area, on Startup of the App. After synchronization you can view the data online at http://logbookpro.com/sync. The Cloud Sync portal shows data pending synchronization to Logbook Pro PC edition. Once Logbook Pro PC edition syncs the data is removed from the Cloud Sync portal.
Data items in the four data areas will change from Black to Gray indicating the data has been synced. If you edit the data on the device it will change from Synced to Unsynced and be sent to the Cloud Sync portal at next synchronization. If the data still resides on the Cloud Sync portal it will get replaced with the changes from the device. If you synced Logbook Pro PC edition it will be replaced when the item is resynced.
If you wish to add data to the device such as a prior Certificates, Ratings, and History items which already exist in Logbook Pro PC edition, be sure to check the "Synchronized" item at the bottom of the data entry screen when saving. By manually marking an item as Synchronized it will not be sent to the Cloud Sync portal but remain on the device for reference. Flights marked as "Pending Flight" are not synced until the "Pending Flight" check mark is cleared and flight saved unless optioned in Settings/Synchronization to also sync pending flights.
Purge:
Logbook Pro on your device offers several options relating to purging data. You can manually purge within each data area by pressing menu/purge or using menu/purge from the Home Screen menu. You can also enable Purge Synced after Sync in the Synchronization Settings area which will purge synced data after a successful synchronization. As Logbook Pro PDA Companions are add-only devices, i.e. they do not host your complete logbook data, once the data is synced it is no longer needed. Reports are not tied to the device data as they are snapshots of your PC log data. Reports are not affected by purge operations. When tapping the Purge button you will have the option of purging all data or only synced data (and pending in the Flights area).
Professional/Enterprise edition users - CLONES cannot be synced with Logbook Pro for iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad apps. Only MASTER files can participate in synchronization.
