Figure 1.  PDA Wizard

The PDA Wizard is the central area to synchronize any PDA that can sync to Logbook Pro.  This includes Palm and Pocket PC editions of both Logbook Pro and Airline Pilot's Daily Aviation Logbook (APDL).  The first screen that appears is shown above in Figure 1.  In order to synchronize PDA's to Logbook Pro requires that both the PC and PDA software is registered.  Licenses can be purchased from our Secure Online Store.  Once a license is purchased, click the Activate Licenses button to activate your license which will enable the corresponding sync features.  To skip this page in the future, check "Skip this step in the future" and the PDA Wizard will start in the selected PDA area.

When the Logbook Pro Palm Companion is HotSync'd, data will be queued into a "merge queue" which will be polled when viewing the dialog shown in Figure 2 above.  If data is available for sync, you can either click the "Purge Queue" button to clear the queue or the Sync button to proceed with importing.

Figure 3.  APDL Sync Configuration

Synchronization of APDL is integrated directly in Logbook Pro from the formerly used SingleSync.  The PDA Wizard provides flexible options as indicated in the figure above.  For Pocket PC's, ensure the device is connected via ActiveSync and the green ActiveSync icon has stopped rotating, indicating synchronization is complete.  Palm OS users select the Palm Username from the top left drop down list, if needed.

The PDA Wizard will attempt to pair N-Numbers with a prior entry in Logbook Pro to derive the corresponding A/C Type.  However, if not found a default A/C Type must be specified from the drop down list, or manually entered to add the Type to the Options...Aircraft area automatically.  The Sync Options section allows you to choose either a "By Leg" or "By LogPage" type of import.  By Leg will log each flight on a separate row whereas the By LogPage will combine all flights on the given data into one line in Logbook Pro showing the routing of the day in the Route column.  If you'd like your AutoFill settings (Options...AutoFill) applied to imported flights, check the "Enable AutoFill" checkbox.  SingleSync generated APDL specific reports which are carried forward in the PDA Wizard.  If you would like these legacy reports generated with each sync, check the "Generate APDL Reports" checkbox.  You can map four APDL fields to Logbook Pro custom text fields or append the information into the Logbook Pro Remarks column.  Set as desired.  The Date Filter allows complete control over what is extracted from your PDA.  The default option is to get new flight data, however, you can set date or date range as desired.  When a prior date from the default is set, the PDA Wizard will first remove APDL flights that fall within this range then reimport them from your device.  If any modifications to these line entries were made they will be lost.  It is suggested to backup Logbook Pro prior to performing imports as safe practice.  Once the configuration is completed, click Sync.  Settings are preserved for next time.
