Before you can use your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad app you must initialize it with data from Logbook Pro PC edition (no purchase required).  A setup wizard will guide you through the process on the App itself -- follow the instructions carefully.  Doing so sends the information from your PC to the Cloud Sync Portal "The Cloud" and then to your device.  Information that needs to be sent to your device includes aircraft types, custom columns, history items from the Options/History area, and report snapshots.  DATA such as Certificates, Ratings, History, and Flights do NOT get sent from the PC to the device. DATA is only synced one way: device to PC.  Follow the steps below to get started.

  1. Make sure you're using Logbook Pro 1.11.2 or later on your PC (click here if you have an older version)
  2. Login to http://logbookpro.com/sync and note your Account ID and Account Username
  3. Within Logbook Pro PC edition, click Cloud Sync / Account Settings and enter your Account ID and Username noted above
  4. Set the Automatic Synchronization option if you want Logbook Pro to automatically sync data from the Cloud Sync portal on startup and update the portal when closed
  5. Close the Account Settings window and click Cloud Sync / Sync Now to initialize the data with your Cloud Sync Portal
  6. Login to http://logbookpro.com/sync and you should see the current date/time UTC next to "PC last sync:"
  7. On your device go to Settings/Synchronization and enter the Account ID and Username noted in step 2 above if you did not enter the information during the setup wizard.
  8. Tap "Back" to return to the Home Screen and then tap Sync to retrieve the data from the Cloud Sync portal to initialize your device.  Make sure you are connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi or Cellular, verify by opening a web page in Safari if needed.
  9. Wait for the network activity indicator at the top to go away
  10. Verify that the device is initialized by viewing any of the reports such as the Summary Bar report.  Notice the "As of date" under any report matches the date on the Cloud Sync portal when you synced the PC data
  11. The device is now ready to use.  Fly and Enjoy!

Note: Logbook Pro for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad is not a stand-alone logbooks. The apps are designed to allow you to add data while away from Logbook Pro PC edition and sync back to the PC. Therefore, after syncing from the PC you will not see anything in the DATA section of the device unless it has been added on the device itself.
